Harlie & Jadon

I was hired as a SURPRISE live wedding painter by the bride’s family (yes, you can totally do that!). They had no idea until shortly before the ceremony when the bride’s sister revealed that they had hired me to paint a moment from their wedding day & asked what she’d like me to capture.

Harlie & Jadon Live Wedding Painting

The Moment

The couple chose a moment from their vows as they were holding hands & smiling. Painting a moment from their vows speaks to the sacredness of what marriage is all about. The ceremony (located at Merrick Hollow, Oklahoma) was bathed in dappled sunlight, in what felt like a secret nook in nature, surrounded by a canopy of trees.

During the ceremony I focus on capturing reference photos & then I head to the reception to get started sketching. Painting live is really all about laying the foundation of the painting & making the experience super fun for guests. This makes it a great time for loved ones to participate in the painting process!

I always finish paintings in the studio to give them the time & attention to detail that they deserve. I also document, add protective varnish, & professionally package the painting during this time. This is an heirloom piece after all. It will hang in the heart of a couple’s home for decades & be something they can pass down to children/loved ones.
